Connemara and galway Bay Tour of ireland

This tour visits the magical unspoiled area of Connemara and the scenic Galway bay.

First stop on the tour is the village of Cong. Cong was the filming location for the John Wayne movie "The Quiet Man".

The Quiet Man Cottage Museum is payed a visit, which will give the visitor a total Quiet Man experience as if they were actually 'on-set'. Located by the river at Circular Road, Cong, between actual locations used for the filming, the ground floor of the cottage has been designed as an exact replica of 'White-o-Mornin' Cottage.

Ashford Castle

Next on the tour is a visit to Ashford Castle which is also in Cong. Here you will have time to walk around the grounds of this famous castle which is now a 5 star hotel. The castle was built in 1228 on the banks of Lough Corrib and it is one of Irelands most spectacular castles.

Lough Corrib will also be visited which is Ireland's largest lake. There is an abundance of wildlife in Lough Corrib including birds and hawks, otters, mink, stoat, frogs, bats and much more. Cruises can be arranged if desired.

Leenane Village & Killary Harbour

The next stop is Leenane village which is famous for the stunning and varied beauty of its location. It is this which has been attracting artists, sportsmen, geologists and leisure-seekers for over 150 years.  The movie "The Field" was filmed here.

Killary Harbour which is located in Leenane, Connemara, Co. Galway, is Ireland's only fjord. It forms a partial border between counties Galway and Mayo. It is 16 kilometres long and in the centre it is over 45 metres deep.

Kylemore Abbey

Situated in the heart of Connemara, Kylemore Abbey shares its woodlands, lakes and rivers with a large number of birds and animals. Galway

Last stop on the tour is Galway where you can listen to traditional Irish music, sample Irelands finest oysters and visit attractions such as the Claddagh Museum which is a museum and a jewellery shop. It is dedicated to the history of this Galway made ring. Named after an old fishing area in the county, the rings were worn to indicate marriage but now they are just a token of friendship and are worn by Irish and Irish descendents the world over.

More attractions in Galway include the Spanish Arch which dates from 1584 and Shop Street which is a pedestrianised street, containing central Galway's best preserved ancient building, Lynch's Castle. As the main shopping street in Galway City, it contains old brick buildings, bright storefronts, numerous pubs and array of street performers
